Kilkenny College projects update

Polytunnel

Tech Mentor Elmer is working with Kilkenny College TY students and their efforts and enthusiasm over the last six months is now bearing fruit in the polytunnel, which is full of fruit and vegetables. The students intend to have an end of term festival and use a selection of their garden produce together with school baked foodstuffs to celebrate their achievements!

Nature Seat

Tech Mentor Martin and TY students completed the garden seats and landscape works. Painting and planting will be completed in September. Further works to the gardens include restoration of old stone boundary walls, natural screening and vertical gardens for the sports equipment store. The students are also working on plans to recycle and direct rainwater to a fish pond feature in the Library Courtyard. This work will start in the Autumn and will include water cascades in recycled materials from the schools waste salvage program.

Acoustic Panels

Three dimensional acoustic screens are in the final stages of completion to hang in Red Square, using a selection of recycled materials, card, egg boxes, plastic bottles and twigs/branches. These will be installed before the end of this term and the project will continue in the autumn term.
