Grennan College Students Review Progress at Thomastown Town of Food

As part of the continuing involvement of students from Grennan College in the Thomastown Town of Food project, Susliving Tech Mentors organised a demonstration where students could review progress to date on the Thomastown site. It was also an opportune time for the students to see how their ideas, formulated from their first visit to the Town of Food site last autumn, have influenced the decision making process in this exciting new project.

There was also a practical, hands on experience as the students had the opportunity to start the construction of raised beds in the polytunnel. Leaves were gathered up and put into the compost and leaf mould bins, ready for use later in the year, when vegetables and fruit will be planted. The community link between Thomastown Town of Food and the involvement of the enthusiastic local school students of Grennan College is an important stepping stone to make Thomastown Town of Food a long term success.
